Help me choose - lost in upscaling/upconversion — does it matter?

I have a Samsung 720P 46" DLP TV with 2 component inputs and 1 HDMI input. At some point down the road I’m sure I will upgrade to 1080p but not in the forseeable future. My speakers are all Paradigm (Monitor 9, CC370, Mini Monitors) with only 5.1 (actually 5.0 — no sub yet).

I plan on running the following:
1. Motorola HDTV Cable Box (via HDMI)
2. DVD player (via Component/COAX)
3. Nintendo Wii (via Component/RCA)
4. XBOX 360 (via HDMI),
5. Might hookup my old PS2 (via Component/Optical)
6. In probably a year or two, I’ll get a Blu Ray as well (via HDMI)

So that’s a minimum of 3 HDMIs and 3 Components needed — but I can run one component direct to the TV so I can get away with the standard 2 components on the receiver if needed.

I mostly use this setup for gaming on the Wii and XBOX and HDTV, with a few movies here and there. Down the road I may use this to upgrade my upstairs system which is currently an Onkyo TX-SR602 powering a 5.1 system with multi-room, so the receiver should probably have multi room capability also.

I’ve been researching receivers and pretty much it comes down to how important is all of the HDMI switching, upscaling, and upconversion and to what levels? I think I know what they all are, but do I need everything upscaled to 1080p? Will I be able to tell a difference if I get a 1080p TV later on? Will I be able to tell a difference now? I tried looking for some online videos that demoed a 480p signal upconverted to 1080p but I could not find any.

I’ve narrowed the list down to the following (I think), and am really struggling with the variations between them and which one suits me best for this situation and for the best price.

Denon AVR-1910
Onkyo TX-SR507
Onkyo TX-SR607
Yamaha RX-V465
Yamaha RX-V565
Pioneer VSX-919AH-K
Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K

So I’ll start the conversation here and see where it leads.

Final Fight: Double Impact to Hit PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Next Year

Capcom Europe just announced today that it will be releasing a special double pack of two HD-updated side-scrolling arcade games for the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live in April 2010.

Final Fight: Double Impact will be a downloadable pack featuring two arcade titles: Final Fight and Magic Sword.  Capcom says that both titles will be released using a proprietary graphics engine to make the games “shine in crisp and clear HD glory.”  However, purists will be able to toggle back to classic and arcade cabinet modes to get a pixel-for-pixel translation on screen.  There will also be a new selectable soundtrack from the composers of Bionic Commando: Rearmed.

The titles will feature online multiplayer complete with voice chat, leader boards and the ability to join games already in progress.

Final Fight is side-scrolling beat-’em-up in the vein of Double Dragon and Streets of Rage with three main characters – Guy, Cody and Haggar – pummeling bad guys in crime-ridden Metro City to save Haggar’s daughter from Mad Gear.

Magic Sword is a side-scrolling fantasy action title featuring “The Brave One,” a fierce warrior who bears the daunting responsibility of cleansing evil forces from an ancient tower.

Both titles were released in the arcades back in the late ’80s and early ’90s and received ports on the SNES shortly thereafter.
